Benefits of infrared saunas

Improved health

Numerous studies have explored the use of infrared saunas for addressing chronic health issues, including high blood pressure, heart disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, and have discovered evidence of their benefits.

Sports recovery

Infrared heat penetrates sore, tired or damaged muscles after a workout or competition, increasing blood circulation and oxygen flow and assisting in tissue repair. Infrared heat also helps in the removal of lactic acid, allowing muscles to relax and recover faster.

Weight loss

Weight loss from sweating is quickly regained. The heat generated by an infrared sauna causes your core temperature to rise, which leads to increased heart rate. Your body has to work harder to lower your core temperature, increasing circulation, which burns calories.

Detoxification

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. An infrared sauna emits rays that penetrate deeply into the tissues. This heat stimulates fat cells to release built up toxins, including heavy metals and other environmental chemicals.

What are infrared saunas?

Infrared saunas use infrared light to directly heat your body, without significantly heating the air around you. This light is experienced as radiant heat that is absorbed by the surface of your skin, often leading to a deep sweat at lower ambient temperatures. Because of the lower air temperature, infrared saunas are sometimes a more comfortable option for people who find the intense heat of a traditional sauna too difficult to tolerate.

Users often report experiencing a sense of rejuvenation and stress relief after sessions. The gentle heat can help ease muscle tension and support detoxification, contributing to an overall feeling of well-being. As interest in alternative health therapies grows, infrared saunas continue to be a popular choice for those looking to complement traditional medical treatments with non-invasive, supportive care options.

Infrared saunas FAQs

  • Traditional saunas raise the temperature of the air, which in turn heats the body. This requires interior temperatures of 160-210 degrees. Infrared sauna is different; light is used to heat the body directly, keeping the temperature in the sauna at a more comfortable 100-125 degrees.

  • Infrared light provides all the benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of solar radiation. This radiant heat is soft, gentle and relaxing and will never cause your skin to burn.

  • An infrared sauna is much cooler than a standard sauna due to the efficiency of infrared heat. If you are new to the practice, make sure to listen to your body and use common sense. If the heat becomes unbearable or you feel dizzy or faint, leave the sauna. You can also use the personal shower to cool off mid treatment. Make sure to stay hydrated! Drinking 12-16 ounces of water before and after your sauna is recommended to replace the water lost by sweating.

  • Sauna use is not recommended if you have any of the following conditions: pregnancy, under the influence of drugs/alcohol or hangover, infections or fever, acute injury within the last 48 hours, hemophiliacs or persons prone to bleeding, parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, central nervous system tumors, diabetic neuropathy and other conditions associated with reduced ability to perspire, insensitivity to heat

  • The sauna suite is completely private and has its own shower and dressing area. A bathing suit is not necessary but you may bring one if you like. We provide towels, shampoo, body wash and conditioner and the prep room has blow dryers and other amenities. You may want to bring a water bottle to help you stay hydrated during your sauna. Do not wear jewelry or watches in the sauna.
